I can appreciate the gloomy atmosphere it makes but I've never understood the praise this gets

It's very well done soft prog rock which this site loves a lot. This used to be a 4.5 but it grew off a bit.

Every song on here is amazing except Closer and Weakness which aren't quite as impressive. I've only heard this twice though hopefully it won't grow off of me like it did you people

Yeah, I can understand that (Mongi). Windowpane and Death Whispered a Lullaby stops this from being a 2.5 IMO.

What were they thinking with Weakness? Their most uninteresting song and they pick it as the album closer haha

Well this is by far better than heritage, but I'd say that this beats Deliverance any day. Deliverance felt a bit too over the top bar Masters Apprentices

Yeah Damnation's better, Deliverance is probably their least complicated album but still great

A Fair Judgement and For Absent Friends are all I care for on Deliverance.

Agreed with Choccy on it being weaker than this though.

This and Heritage should be at the bottom even though I love both, their heavy ones are just better imo

No way, Heritage is like top 4. This is bottom 2 for sure though, I agree with you there.

lol Heritage is way better than this. This does beat Deliverance though cos that album's kinda shit.

well think about it for a while. heritage is more like classic 70s prog so obv jamie is into that album more than the rest of their 2000s stuff

for me, the only opeth album heritage is superior to is deliverance

JT loves Heritage bar Famine and The Lines in My Hand, which I like.

Other than that, I agree with him on Heritage being Top 4 'Peth.
