okay fine my explanation
i think it's good. it gets the atmosphere right but it just isn't emotionally evoking to me in any way. i think a lot of people rate this so highly due to its legacy and the fact it was the first, which is perfectly understandable - but i rate things on personal enjoyment and this didn't really deliver
i appreciate that it's a very important record, absolutely. i have this issue other albums that went to become classics and becoming completely pivotal to the development of a style. it may be the first, but so many others have done it better since then. with albums like emperor's first 2 albums, even godspeed, just about no one has been able to re-create what they did which is why i hold those albums so highly and not this one because to me it just hasn't stood the test of time.
