It’s pretty well known that voting third party is a wasted vote. Yes, it shows that there is interest in those other platforms, but Trump and Clinton just had too many diehard supporters for a third party vote to even make sense imo. I voted in the primaries to try to get the candidate I wanted, but alas.

In my country we have a saying "if you don't vote, you'll vote for extremists" - because they always gonna vote therefor have a better result in %. Maybe the proportion of those voting for third party is showing the politics that many people aren't/weren't satisfied with both major candidates.
