what makes a thing 'moral grandstanding'? genuine question
also, yeah I want to believe in rehabilitation but surely you have to understand that people are gonna have some aprehensions regarding a predator continuing to have a platform catering to minors (?). Like, how do we make sure he's "rehabilitated"?
talking about "cancel culture" as a blanket set of behaviours doesn't help the discussion, as it encompasses a very wide variety of reactions to celebrities' actions. are we talking about someone having a bad day and yelling at a fast food employee, a celebrity in the throes of addiction, a sex offender, a murderer? like

I think his platform is catering to people that spend $35 on deconstructed burgers and drink beer that tastes like ass pennies

“just meant from a perspective of like not supporting weirdos or predators, all those bands were full of em.”
Well that went right over my head.
@asdfp277
None of that is about Jesse, talk all the shit in the world about him, he deserves it and like I said I’m not even going to the show because when I really sat down and thought about it, yeah I realized that it didn’t sit right with me. I’m strictly talking about making people who are going to the shows feel shitty. I don’t think it’s deserved.

"I’m strictly talking about making people who are going to the shows feel shitty."
yeah, i think overall people itt know what you're talking about. it's just that they disagree.
"I don’t think it’s deserved."
i don't know if making people "feel shitty" is necessarily my intention, but I do implore people to not support stuff if that's going to contribute to a problem like that, i.e. not supporting jk rowling because her money directly harms trans people, etc. In a way, if you're aware that your support harms people like that, wouldn't that make you a bad person though?

(i don't want to push u to keep replying btw -- if you feel like it's upsetting you, given ur previous health issues, you might want to reconsider continuing the conversation, for ur own health)

the bad faith framing to justify enforcing boycott and controlling people, not to mention attacking and slandering them, for buying a fucking Harry Potter book or going to see Brand New makes you a bad person from how I see it

What's the bad faith framing? You're supporting a nonce by going. You just seem mad that it's being pointed out.
Also, it's funny that you're using words like "enforce" and "control" lol. I guess nobody should ever advocate for anything because otherwise it's "enforcement" and "control." Nobody's stopping you from going. Goofy ass argument.

how is it bad faith?

the behavior here goes way beyond 'advocate' lol but just more misrepresentation of what is actually going on here which I think Wildcard already pointed out earlier in regards to another - typical
