"Been a fan since I was like 11 and randomly picked out Adrenaline in an HMV store in London that my parents bought (also picked out Obsolete by Fear Factory and 3 Dollar Bill Y'All by the Limp). Remember spinning the ever-living fuck out of that CD on my walkman. Caught them live as a teen in 2003 on their s/t tour as one of my first concerts and was blown away. This band has just delivered year on year and been one of my mainstays throughout all of my musical changes (and this site and general nerdery has indeed tugged those strings over los años). I'm now 39 years old and a father. That this band has managed to blow up with the new rascals is just so damn well-deserved. Can't think of a better badge of honor than the timelessness that represents. Hats off Chino et al and may you long continue swaying hearts. Fanboi out."
Comments like this keeps it alive though...tk you Osmark86. Im 42, father of 2. I love this site and these "kids" who will never know what "grab my blue backpack, my walkman, grip my bicycle, bc I know my friends are waiting at the door" means

"I’d like for songs that strong to be saved for a full album experience. It blew my nips off when I heard it for the first time but hearing it right off the heels of I think about you all the time would’ve sent me into another fucking plane of existence"
Thats why for my very favourite bands anyway, these day I abstain from listening to the singles. I might listen to the first min of the first single only, then wait until the album drops, so it all flows as an album without being spotted with sections of severe familiarity already etc.
But I only do it to bands that I already know ill be buying the album regardless, so I wait for the album and abstain from the singles.

The more I listen, the more it captivates me. Really good album.

I haven’t listened to the full album but I like what I’ve heard to far. But the evolution of this band’s fanbase is wild. In the late 00s to mid-2010s it felt like their core fanbase was gen x dudes with these type of selfies: https://x.com/RobDenBleyker/status/1285977144775057410
Now my gen z/borderline gen alpha students wear their merch because they heard them on tik tok. Not that any of this is good or bad it’s just been interesting to witness.

“
Also really wish they’d knock it off with fucking always closing with adrenaline tracks, or if they did I wish it was almost anything over Engine No 9. Literally one of my least favorite tracks by them.
I might honestly leave the second it starts to beat the crowd”
Agreed. And hard agree they should close with Pink Maggit. Or if they insist on closing with an Adrenaline track, go with Fireal. That would be kinda badass. Only heard it live once. And I just looked: last time they played it was fucking November 21, 2012!

I bet they're absolutely amazing live. One of the few bands whom I love whom I've not seen.

With how many young fans they are getting these days it's cool they still play stuff from Adrenaline.

Yeah that is a good point. They aren’t kowtowing/trying to just appease the newer fans. Showing respect for their roots etc. In that sense it’s cool. But yeah they’ve been closing with Adrenaline tracks for so long it seems like, as long as I can remember seeing them. Would be nice to switch it up

This record frustrates me so much lol
I want to like it more because i love Deftones but i cant help feeling all the songs sound so flat? Ive listened to it both on speakers and headphones and it makes no difference. It is like the music comes from underneath a blanket. People hating on Gore but it sure sounded much more dynamic too me, even tho the songwriting on this is a tad bit stronger

yea it's compressed as hell. also seems like they forgot to write great riffs. they sound the best when they go all shoegaze mode, but even then, those parts are mostly weaker than the ones they wrote before. seems like they're mostly focused on aesthetics and vibes now, which is okay, but idk it leaves me wanting more.

"This website really is dead huh. 40 pages only for a week old deftones album and 90% of comments are from the same 6 users. Bleak"
After the mass staff exodus I'm surprised this place is still running at all tbh
