worst in general is probably ecailles de lune? for me it's tied with shelter.
they've never made a 'bad' record but both shelter and ecailles de lune are cursed with half the songs being amazing and the other half being utterly disposable.
in retrospect this album's more or less the same thing.

"Same at the show I attended, but I didn't really mind, because I saw them at their Kodama cycle in 2017. Loved to see the new songs, I only wished they'd played L'Enfant De La Lune"
I do wish the guitars were also turned up a little. They were a little drowned out by the drums when I saw em. Other than that, show was really great

i do really wanna see them live - hear they're fantastic. might make some of these songs click more for me.
" Ecailles is easily their best. Like its not even close."
after track 3 the album just falls apart into nothing for me. if it were just the first three songs released as an EP it'd be 5/5.

@Noctus give this one time if you have the desire, it was a slow grower for me. Might go back and bump my initial 3.5 to a 4.0.

i've grown to like shelter in like... what it was trying to do but too many of the songs felted underbaked. some really great ones on there though, credit where it's due.
best is kodama and it isn't even close imo.

Shelter is what my friend and I call a sleepytime album. Just boring in my opinion

Probably a hot take but Spiritual Instinct is their crowing achievement imo. All killer, no filler, and its immediacy doesn't come at the cost of depth just due to the sheer emotive power of its melodies and vocal delivery.
Kodama and Escailles are obviously close in the running, and they've never released a turd, though. Shelter is pretty underwhelming, but all of their albums do at least *something* well that the others don't that earns it a place in their discog.

I saw them open for Opeth on their shelter tour. I had no idea who they were and they blew Opeth out of the water. Easily.

Neige was as dreamy as expected. His level of zen is something that I’ll never find a fraction of but damn is he a calming individual.
