there's something very funny about a band that dresses in robes and masks and tries to maintain a goofy 'cult' aesthetic without a hint of irony while also performing songs where they like, rap about squirting. such a bizarre dichotomy

Had to delete 'are you really ok', it's such a shit song, the only stinker here.

yeah i've never been bothered by goofy aesthetic gimmicks perosnally, it's a bit of fun, but you either have to take it completely seriously or completely unseriously, there's a jarring disconnect between a band who have stupid costumes and sing about fetishes and then turns around on the very same album trying to talk seriously about mental health. its tone-deaf when a regular band does the same thing but with the aesthetic choices it's just one massive eyeroll moment

yeah i think that's my issue with it too. the right aesthetic can be charming and fun but god man i just cannot get over how silly this must look/sound live lol

‘though I can see how yall like Fantano because he loves that Portal and Imperial Triumphant stuff that perfectly fits in my criteria of incoherent noise I just spoke of’
Tundra you just got me vaguely interested in this Fantano guy, which is the weirdest of timelines. His taste > yours, clearly

Yeah Fantano generally doesn't like too much metal, but simultaneously enjoys a fair bit of powerviolence/dissodeath/etc. He gave Ashenspire a pretty glowing review iirc.
Not sure where that crossover appeal starts, but it certainly makes for an interesting taste palette. He's a big Nails fan too I think?

Fantano bats for Pig Destroyer, Otoboke Beaver and Melt-Banana and memes on Deftones, which tbqh is all you need in a dude

tundra racist arc unexpected

lol yeah his fans always ask him to cover Deftones just for him to say "I don't like this" and the comments become a warzone.

i'm being slightly hyperbolic but there is a song that is confirmed about squirting (lol) and more rap than one would expect from a band that looks like.... that imo

Imagine being in a band where the vocalist gets a name like Vessel and you’re stuck being called II, III, or IV

Also having watched some live videos of this band, their bassist has some super cringe stage presence
