"I don't want people putting other words in my mouth. "You guys are indirectly saying that James is 100% of the value of Metallica" is immediately jumping to conclusions imo"

This was a general statement Koris, more so a reflection of the negative comments that Kirk has been getting recently and Lars his entire career...

I mean, Rob does add some interesting moments here, not sure if he even wrote them though, but maybe James isn't 100% of what's interesting here, maybe he is closer to 95%

say what you will about lars, his knack for groove and accenting has been imitated by countless drummers for decades

Yeah kirk has really never been great but he had some good moments in the 80s. Definitely one of the worst guitarists to consistently make greatest guitarists of all time lists

"some good moments" as in quite a few of the most iconic metal solos ever?

one, the unforgiven, puppets, nearly every solo on ride the lightning?

dudes lazy af and maybe a little cuckoo now but the dude deserves all the accolades he gets for his work on the first five albums

Yeah, ride the lightning is probably his best album. He's just never been an amazing player yet always makes greatest of all time lists

Kirk wrote and recorded some of the most exciting metal solos ever, no doubt.

That was a long time ago.

Now he's just mediocrity incarnate.

This band was good and now they are bad and every solo here sounds improvised on the spot and not in a cool way

Sorry Titan, I wasn't in the best headspace when I made that orginal comment. I definitely see what you mean, and to be fair, Lars isn't too bad here. Maybe a bit bland, but the fact that he can still pull out such an energetic performance in his late 50s is pretty cool

if you've liked any Metallica before and give this a 1.0 then that does seem like an overly emotional rating :D

St. Anger maybe, but this is not a 1.0

Listen pal your little steam powered merit calculator or whatever it is you use to decide your red numbers is all well and good but us improvisational raters deserve a seat at the table too
