Maiden are the better band overall but they never made music as good as 70's Priest at its peak and certainly never managed to make an album as good as Sad Wings of Destiny.

70's Priest > Maiden [2]

80's Maiden > everything by Priest that wasn't released in the 70's [2]

Priest riff harder and have better vocals. [2]

Let's not forget Tipton's killer leads.

I only prefer Powerslave over Sad Wings, but they both are prime examples of metal up your @$$ albums during their years.

As much as I love classic Priest, Maiden have always been more precious to me.

I would actually want to listen to Priest's whole catalog every once in a while had they not released Point of Entry, Turbo, Jugulator, and Demo Lord of Atrociousness.

Honestly, I don't even consider Jugulator and Demoliton to be Judas Priest records.

What exactly would you consider them then? I know Demolition was written by Glenn and K.K. to a large extent.

That they may have been, but I just find it difficult to see them as Priest albums. It's not just Halford that's missing there.

The Ripper wasn't all the much of a deviation from Halford's style though. The songwriting he sang over was pigshit though.

Someone should do a combined ranking of Priest and Maiden songs, that'd be sweet. Maybe Snow can do that.

I should jam Maiden more when I have the time.
