I think Matt Bellamy genuinely thinks he is writing good songs post Black Holes...

They did a terrible job of maintaining any sort of potential legacy, pretty sure they don’t give af and Bellamy in particular just wanted to have a blast making over-the-top stadium fillers whilst pocketing those £££. Fair play to ‘em really, their choice.

I think his voice is a lot more groomed and debonair, but like, not in a good way. Though, when he performs his older songs with it, it does sound pretty good.
He can't hit those operatic tones anymore which kind of blows. Not saying remotely that he has to go as hard as he did in the Origin days, but yah even the instrumentation is lacking flair.

The vocal production has been awful on recent albums. Over compressed and obviously tuned in places. They need a more raw approach akin to this

Well I saw them on the Absolution tour and it was fucking awesome so I can't hate them too much
Stay away from wokeness, people

Yeah his vocal work was genuinely impressive and wildly different to anything in mainstream rock circles, the operatic moments especially... Micro Cuts anyone? Insane. Now it just sounds like he’s doing it as part of an act, an obligation, there’s very little power behind his voice now. He’s become a parody of himself. It’s all studio bollocks as well.
A complete aside but based on the evidence Bellamy is also a talented pianist, yet he rarely utilises these skills now, at least not on record. I still remember watching the live version of Butterflies and Hurricanes on DVD, loved that.
Like I said, I’m pretty sure he / they made a decision and this is how they wanted to move forward. I doubt they care about any legacy, otherwise they’d have gone in a completely different direction and be utilising their (okay, his) talents better.

Yeah I miss them having piano based tunes. I think the piano only comes out twice over the whole of ST

interesting, i always thought muse were at their best (and least radiohead clone-y) during the harder jamz like hysteria, assassin etc

I feel like the only substanitally close radiohead-y album is Showbiz.
Yeah I miss the piano too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c02gBveKq70. Like c'mon Bellamy, why are you holding out now?

I liked every Muse up to and including Black Holes, then Resistance had some nice moments but after that I lost interest big time. Don't ever revisit the older ones any more either actually.
I did see them live during the Resistance tour and that was incredibly awesome.
