Idk I think it's brilliant in its concept, just a little bit harsh on the eyes

“ They didn't play [The Ascent] last year when I saw them >:[“

Yeah I think they are just starting to introduce it to live sets. They’ve done several live studio concerts which included both Pt 1 and Pt 2. Example: https://youtu.be/LAvDakMCPl0

Just removed over 100 5 star ratings and this album was the only one to be bumped up to a 5 during that process.

always been on the fence about whether or not this is a 4.5 or a 5 for me but it at worst has a 5 buried within its perhaps overly long tracklist

Actually I think this is pretty tight and not overly long. It flys by so fast

its not really that long "minutes wises" but its got a lot of tracks and idk if eeeeevery one of them hits the mark all the way for me. its a lil nitpicky since so much of this is crazy impressive and the shit that doesnt work aaaas much for me are still like recognizable bold experiments but they are ultimately the difference between a very strong 4.5 and a 5

I get what you mean but I think that makes it more of a 5 for me. It feels like a lord of the rings type of adventure where you move on to something different or take a stroll through a short area before leaving. …lol

yea see like thats kind of why i can go either way plus the pacing of everything is phenomenal and its a hell of a dynamic journey just sooooooooome of it doesnt feel aaaaas cohesively connected to me. j to point to the specific moments like im not the hugest fan of the first waltz track the texture of horns kinda clashes w the rest of the record for me, and the apocaholics outro is a bit too heavy on the vocal effects for my tastes lol, but thats really it. its for sure a crazy brilliant album that i think is definitely the artistic peak of the band so far

only other thing off the top of my head is the penultimate track is a weird as hell place for the king, an absolute banger as that song is
