It's the track where the album truly 'arrives' and gets down to business

It's immense

Only just realised 'Day I Die' references 'Val(entine) Jester'

Song is a decent track 2, it 'keeps the car running', that sort of a second tune

Track 1 is clearly bridge from 'Trouble'/intro and track 2 is 'throw them something catchy' but there's nothing wrong with such a traditional bit of pacing for me

Come on Doof, I caught that reference on the first go! (Though I was looking at the lyrics)

Would love to listen to this more, but I'm totally spellbound by the new Susanne Sundfor.

I got megahyped for that Sundfør release after those fantastic singles, but I can't help but feel they're the best thing on the full record.

Boney, I don't read lyrics when I first start listening to an album, I like the key phrases to eventually emerge themselves

I think I was hearing the emphasis on 'Valentine' and 'Jester' was super mumbly and indistinct

Nah "Reincarnation" and "Bedtime Story" and "No One believes in Love anymore" are all 5/5.

(Mountaineers is the best song of the year tho)

Susanne Sundfor

So far all I know is she has an impressive cleavage on her RYM artist pic (apologies), tell me more

Her best song is a duet with John Grant (I assume you like him, because he's so your type of singer-songwriter):

(also her new album is the first album I fived since 2013, although I'm not yet sure if the rating will stand)

No One Believes in Love Anymore is straight out of the Joni Mitchell playbook (not necessarily a bad thing); I don't really remember Bedtime Story because I got the leak a week or so ago and spun it until this leaked..

Undercover is my song of the year: when her voice goes into hyperdrive, it's just magnificent.
