"you put your fret hand finger on the strings lightly before and then strum, so you can all get fucked"
yeah no shit lol

"you are dirty but also you can force through a pinch harm if you make contact with your finger(thumb) before the pick, it'll just sound muddy and therefore probably more appropriate for colton's argument tbh"
brb gotta go force a pinch harm

johnny I'm not sure what you're talking about. I'm not talking about pinch harmonics I'm talking about normal harmonics. you put your finger on a string along the 5th, 7th or 12th fret, without actually pressing the string. then pluck the string, and quickly remove your fretting hand. you can just leave your fretting hand on if you want but the note won't ring out as long that way

"you guys just don’t know how to appreciate this, as pretentious as I sound saying that." It was goddamn tongue in cheek lol
@Colt: But you're saying "Oh you like how she played notes? ANYONE can play notes." Like duh dude. Not the point though.
And I still don't get seeing this as something bad. Which we're different people obviously, I just come from a place of loving this record and knowing a lot of folks that love it too. Which that's not mean to invalidate your dislike, that's just my perspective. It's perfectly pleasant the way it is. I don't just need more from it, personally.

I love plenty of "simple" music, I just think this particular album has uninteresting melodies and rhythms. none of that has anything to do with technical proficiency. Here is an off the top of my head example of something simple that I really like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i1KJ807VeL4
or like any early Mountain Goats album

Colton and millie being two of the most pedantically argumentative people I know this was bound to happen sooner or later and I for one am having a nice time observing it

But you're talking about basic chords and harmonics as if they're primitive, pea brain ways to make a guitar part or dumb for a listener to enjoy, to no end I might add. It think trying to attack the words was silly on your part. Like you were trying to say what that my opinion was invalid because of X when it wasn't.
And Pots, you love talking shit too, but you don't take it as well as you dish it sometimes.

I know you interpreted it that way, but that is really not what I'm saying at all. I'm saying that those specific elements aren't what this album is about, even the people who like this album generally agree that's not the main draw here. It's about Julien, and the chords and everything else facilitate that. But that doesn't make the chords themselves amazing, so when you say "idk how you dislike a song with this progression and harmonics" obviously I'm gonna poke fun at that. It's like how I love All Hail West Texas but I'm not gonna say The Best Ever Death Metal Band Out of Denton is a great song because of its chord progression
