Heritage's production is more raw than PC's but has more life as well imo

Watershed was the start of their decline imo. Watershed was like watered down Opeth and then they just straight up doused the fire and went boring af on Heritage. Sure, it's undeniably Opeth, but it's Opeth at its least memorable imo. I've always loved Mikael's penchant for finding vocal melodies that worked with the music and were instantly memorable, but I felt Heritage onward has been him phoning it in as a vocalist or maybe he is trying but it just feels bland. Damnation is a great record in old era Opeth that showed that they can do the softer stuff right, but they didn't really channel any of that when trying to go with this new style of 70's prog worship.

Watershed was inconsistent, but definitely not watered down. If anything, it was an expansion of the ideas of their previous albums.

Watershed isn't quite as good as Ghost Reveries or Damnation but still fantastic

Tbh I get some some pretty hard vibes on Watershed of them just going through the motions of the metal bits. I like that album less with age, Ghost Reveries is one of their best albums though

Yeah, not even close. But it's a jammable album, so this is nice.

Watershed had potential to be better than GR I think. It didn't quite live up to it though, at least not as a whole.
