Not everything has to re-invent the wheel to be exceptional. Refining a proven formula is just as good to me.

This is so refined it's innovative

"Hmm, it's good and fun and all, but hardly anything innonative" The same argument could be made about this album.

I don't care to hear innovation in thrash. The sound was timeless from the moment it appeared in the 80s.
I just want to hear fast riffs, shreddy solos, and grooves in my thrash and I'm satisfied.

I'm impressed by their technical ability, but this doesn't stir much in me

Distillator is good thrash I agree.
Vektor definitely adds much more here, labeling and scoring TR in terms of 1988-1993 thrash standards is a bit delimitative methinks.

Nah Piggy's riffing style was innovative. The dissonant melodies can be traced back to Red by King Crimson though.

Anyone looking for modern tech thrash should check out Black Fast.
