Lucid nailed the highlights of the new record. Hoping they'll grow better with time.

yeah new album seems like a grower

The hate I'm seeing for The Future makes me sad, think it's David's most composed vocals so far and I think that chorus is fucking euphoric, the synths on the Always Foreign are so so much better and complement things really well

I think it's a good song, and indeed the vocals are at their fullest - often they're rather thin - but I think Dillon and Her Son is a lot catchier and more well-developed as one of the more straight-forward songs on the album. And even then, I think the band excel the most during the more subtle moments.

I do agree that they're better at the more reflective stuff

Fuzz Minor was my fav track tbh, Marine Tigers is close but it is a bit too "let's do an epic post-rock song, dude" for me

Fuzz Minor sucks. This is like when you said that Mewithoutyou warbled mess on the Paramore record was the best song

Yeah unfortunately Fuzz Minor might be my least favorite track, tho I love that hazy thudding ending with the vocals drifting off, wish it was a little longer

I stick with that opinion, Lucid.

re-jammed just now, hold my opinions for the most part but the 1st half of the album significantly grew on me

Fuzz Minor was great wtf
gonna take a second listen later but Faker and the Blank track were my least faves on first listen, and The Future and Marine Tigers were probably my standouts

Kinda surprised people are calling the new one their best lyrically. The subjects are more mature, but few of the lines themselves are imo.
Definitely musically a grower like this was though, already appreciating it more on second listen.

"Missing an artist for the loss of their art isn’t grief. We’re heartbroken for Robin, and hate what he did. But real, true, and private loss is so hard to express"
I don't agree with a lot of the messages - I never have this band - but I think the lyrics on this album are so, so, so much better than what they were on Harmlessness, so much better developed and well thought out. While I love a song like January 10th, I think the lyrics held it back so much.

they are at least more poignant but there's some pretty terrible lines still

My favorites are the same as Lucid's except switch Faker with Fuzz Minor. A 3.7 sounds accurate

grew on me a bit, settling for a 3.4. review should be up sometime tomorrow as well

it seems like a huge grower but still some of these songs feel like if they were longer they'd really thrive

not sure that's quite the solution, but sure

New one is most certainly a step down, but still good. Undecided on a rating right now but I might review it tomorrow. Faker and Marine Tigers are the best tracks.
