Routine is amazing except for the lyrics though. One of his best songs imo

"hes still whining about technology?"
The album is partly concerned with the issue of alienation (although the lyrics stated were from the EP, but whatever), and in this regard, his comment on technology more than makes sense. Look at Home Invasion. For all its clumsy writing, I don't think the song's concerns regarding technology are those of a reactionary old man; they're much more of a comment on the isolation or the sense of being lost that technology can lead to, which is, I would say, a legit thing to underline. Granted, it's done with as least subtlety as possible, but hey

honestly my throwaway comment didnt deserve your time and effort, i was mostly poking fun at fear of a blank planet's "it's easier to talk to my PC" and similar stuff from a decade ago, like i get it, but also this is trite af steven come on fam surely you can come up with something more fresh and interesting
either way dont particularly care about lyrics as much as other users, you know you're grasping at straws when you have to try so hard to justify your irrational hate of a pretty alright artist

There's some great lyrics on this album, y'all trippin
|

sw said once that he doesn't put too much effort into lyrics and that for him music comes first - if he can come up with some good lyrics that suit the music well - good, but if he can't then some less ambitious lyrics will do just fine.
personally i agree with him. sometimes the lyrics do nothing more than simply set the subject (not unlike the song title) - the real picture is painted by music.

"There's some great lyrics on this album"
Yeah, I think lyrically this has some of his best moments along with The Incident. There are some really bad moments on both too though.

agreed altertide

great lyrics enhance it, mediocre lyrics dont affect it tho
