too many notes.

not necesarily an anti-virtuoso individual, but it all eventually turns into an indecipherable mush at some point lol.

i mean, if someone can pull off a good, solid neo-soul album is the man himself, as you said, he's kinda the reason it is as popular as it is.

i just always thought of FlyLo as someone who stayed ahead of the curve. Trend setter, not trend raider.

as someone who understands the feeling that flying lotus has shifted to slightly more conventional forms, let's not act like the four (of 27!) tracks released thus far--"fire is coming"?!?!--are, like, Black Radio (2012) or whatever

he was stupid ahead of the curve, at this point I don't think of him lesser for aiming towards what he was already developing for others (Muldrow) recently for himself now

Nothing on the new album is standing out to me really besides black balloons reprise and fire is coming.

yeah agreed gyro. Black Balloons Reprise was so good it kind of overshadowed the rest. the Solange song was jams too but honestly it's the least exciting first listen I've ever had for a FlyLo album, most of it's just... there

same here. after one full listen the only songs i wanted to come back to were black balloons reprise, fire is coming, and land of honey. there's so much padding. i was really pumped for this one so it's a bit disappointing.

I'm listening now...I'll try to hold off on judgment but given that this was THE anticipated album of the year for me...it's not so hot
