I'm curious to see what you think differentiates this as a stepping stone to something else if (I assume you're saying, based on your post, but I could always be wrong) this is a transitional album. Metal elements dropped, but they were on Souvenirs as well, the only change I really see here is a lack of blast beats.

If anything, this seems like the more or less inevitable Alcest conclusion (in style, not releases)

^thats basically what I said a few pages back, although I hope this isn't the conclusion. I hope he does release a new album soon though!

Alright will do. I'm pretty eager to hear of any progress on the new album. They started recording like a month ago.

The next album being "darker" could mean anything, would put this into perspective.

I wouldn't mind a different musical direction, wouldn't be surprised since all their albums are pretty different anyways. This band uses the uplifting beautiful sound to death, so making a darker album can only mean good things.

Exactly, no Alcest album sounds like the previous one. The only one that's kind of similar to its precursor is Voyages, but that was fine, because Ecailles and Voyages were the most diverse Alcest albums by far. Very excited how it's going to turn out. Maybe we get a night-time Shelter with some heavy moments, who knows.
