It's nice to hear Driver go back to a much heavier sound but I'm not sure this all works out to be the masterpiece people have been telling me it is. Maybe my expectations were too high going in. I'll have to give this some time to see if it comes together for me.

I think the vocals are what really hold this back for me, because musically a lot of aspects of this are better than Choirs IMO.
They've never been great on any Kayo Dot/MOTW records but I think this album is the one where Driver's ambitions are most
limited by them.

I think I 5'd choirs at one point and I still like it but I don't think there was ever an album I had to convince myself to overlook it's low points as much as that one.

On another note, I enjoy how the vocals on "And he built him a boat" sound a bit like Michael Gira.
