I could live with that. The Incident might be closer to that classification though. There's so much to the sound on here, like there's some prog obviously, Britpop, psychedelia, and other styles too. I just think of it as a blend of alt. / art rock and prog metal.

I'd use post-progressive to describe PT and most SW-related stuff. Because in intent, it's actually very much in line with traditional prog, but shows signs of adaptation to an entirely new musical context. Like alt. rock/metal inspiration and an overall tendency to blend many diverse influences.

I think prog has to be now in a way very much a reflection of its era. Popular music being arguably more diverse than in was in the 70s, prog has a much greater multiplicity of sources to draw from and make sense of.

wat? There's a ton of prog in both of those albums (though he did bring in some metal influences too)

Deadwing has some pop songs and heavy ones too, it's a good mix of stuff, like on here but in a different way..

Deadwing has Arriving Somewhere... but also Lazarus, Shallow, Halo and Open Car, which are some of the most alt-rock songs PT has done

Yea who cares, all I know is that even someone who doesn't love something over polished can appreciate something about .3. That song has one of the most chilling scopes ever.

It's definitely a winner. Wilson is one hell of a musician and songwriter. Songs like Lips Of Ashes, Heartattack In A Layby and Creator bring incredibly unique vibes.
