Death have sorta grown off me over the years, despite me liking certain albums quite a bit. No matter what progression each album showed, there's always an overbearing "samey" quality to it. The structure is usually "intro/verse/pre-chorus/chorus/solo/bridge/verse/pre-chorus/chorus/(at least half of the time) sudden stop." The refrains sound like they were copied and pasted from the first verses except with different lyrics, and Chuck's solos get really predictable after a while. That's why I enjoy TSOP and Leprosy as much as I do, because they actually sound different stylistically from the others.

Out of all of Death's albums this one is probably the least deserving of being called soulless. TSOP is really the only one that I could understand being called that.

All of Death's last 4 albums have their own distinct sound imo. They're not very different stylistically but they all have a different feel to them.

nope, only just got round to ordering the last 3 death albums over the holidays. I've head SBG, Leprosy, SH and human for a while but never got round to picking up the rest of them. Individual thought patterns turned up yesterday, havn't jammed it yet though. Been busy sorting out baby stuff so not had time to sit down and just crank the stereo up.
