Yes, dispensible Pet Sounds knockoff.

Ignoring the fact that pet sounds was inspired by a beatles album,

Here, There and Everywhere might be the furthest thing away from a pet sounds knockoff possible.

Pet Sounds being inspired by Rubber Soul without sounding like it does not mean that Here, There and Everywhere either sounds like anything on Rubber Soul or sounds nothing like Pet Sounds, Mr. Big Brain
McCartney said outright that it was influenced by God Only Knows and those harmonies sound way more like the Beach Boys than anything the Beatles had previously made so idk, keep tabs on them possibilities

How is being heavily influenced by Pet Sounds bad exactly? If anything, I'd consider that a compliment

It's neither good nor bad tbh, but if you took it as a compliment for every album with obvious influence, you'd be handing out gold stars day and night
It's a bad thing for me in this case because those harmonies sounded better on Pet Sounds and the track is a drippy bore (funny how all those tend to be Paul songs?) compared to most Beatles ballads but if y'all vibe it power too you

"McCartney said outright that it was influenced by God Only Knows"

I stand corrected, but calling it a ripoff just because it has harmonies is kind of harsh. They've done it before.

The real rip-off (if there is one) is sgt. Peppers.

But it doesn't matter, cause pet sounds is better than any beatles [2]

I was being somewhat crass and I don't exactly hate the track, but those harmonies carry a v different flavour to anything on past Beatles records (too rusty on intervals to break it down further) and it's not too hard to see where it came from
But yeah, Sgt Pepper's went the extra mile for sure

I'll admit, when I read that comment, I didn't immediately connect it to god only knows. My fault. I guess my cobweb covered brain thought you were comparing the instrumentals.

Call it a beach boys/god only knows ripoff next time, I'll stay quiet then.

Why isn't McCartney a sputnikker so he could clear this up?
