yeah, the only reason people prefer this is because it came out first. if ATP came out 6 years ago and this followed it up, people would view this as a letdown. I absolutely guarantee it.

Nope
People prefer this because it’s a better album

After the Party is overhyped as shit yeah

I think this has a few weaker tracks than AtP (Ava House, sun Hotel) but also has a handful of tracks that are the best in their discography (Good Things, Burn After Reading, Obituaries, Mexican Guitars, Nice Things and Casey).

That's the thing, not a weak track on ATP. Boy Blue maybe, but that's it. Tellin Lies, Lookers, Black Mass, Your Wild Years, and the title track are better than most of the songs on here. And the production is damn near perfect.

rented world is almost a 5 too if not for sentimental physics, which is still ok but

Eh I would say the overall song quality is better on AtP, definitely shows a band that's finally grown up and fell into their groove and what they're good at, but this to me still has the infectious simplicity in the riffs and ideas that are just straight fire and Casey is the best thing they've ever written.
AtP is well crafted and mixed, this just has some really fresh and simple ideas that work very well.

The lyrics on this and Rented World hit so much harder with me than the lyrics on AtP. Idk maybe I'll connect with it more when I'm out of my 20s

they're both among my favorite albums so there's a very slim difference in quality. both are insanely catchy with fantastic lyrics and mostly great front to back

Fuck it this is a 5. What a band

ATP's got 3 5/5 songs (Lookers, Your Wild Years, After the Party), a few 4/5 tracks, and then a few that I just don't enjoy. House on Fire, Black Mass, and Livin Ain't Easy are usually skipped.

It didn't really hit me until someone made a list asking about it but The Menzingers are my favorite band of this decade

The Menzingers are my favorite band in general but it's been such a sweet ride from seeing them perform stuff from Chamberlain Waits all the way up until now. They've grown so much.
