havent been paying attention, so sure, sounds good to me

yeah i'm bringing back this thread
and i would say that D-Rose has to be in the conversation for MVP so far. he may have taken a hit by missing that game-tying free throw against the Clippers last night, but he has been just physically dominating and destroying people so far
the other players that must also be considered for MVP so far are Amar'e Stoudemire, of course, with the Knicks' turnaround. though i don't think he's going to keep this production up, and he was effectively neutralized the last couple games against Miami and Cleveland
Dirk Nowitzki is also a top candidate at the moment, as is Kevin Durant. Dwight Howard's offensive improvement this year has been unbelievable, too, so if Orlando's new lineup works out and they finish number one or two in the East then he might very well deserve MVP
|
| |
Rookie of the Year so far is obviously Blake Griffin, not really even a contest

odd that he would miss an important free throw at a crucial time since he's never done that before
great avatar MJ
|
| |
well he hasn't done it since college, he's been insanely clutch since entering the league. i think his wrist is still bothering him personally.
agreed 100% on the other MVP candidates, I'd probably add D-Will too
and yeah awesome move with the avatar MJ lol
|
| |
well he hasn't done it since college
but until he wins a title, that will be his legacy
like C-Webb's timeout
|
| |
ooh there's a big difference than calling a non-existent time out during your sophomore year of college and missing one single free throw during your freshman year
I think he's hit enough buzzer beaters, game-winning free throws and highlight dunks in the last 2+ years to cover that. plus the Rookie of the Year award, All-Star team, most points ever in a playoff game by a rookie etc.
then again I'm a little biased lol. I just don't think he needs to win an NBA championship to overcome that. Is Karl Malone's legacy missing a crucial free throw in the 97 Finals?

it was a free throw for the title, that was huge
Is Karl Malone's legacy missing a crucial free throw in the 97 Finals?
in a way it is because his legacy is being on of the best to never win a title, had he won a title at some point, that would be forgotten
|
| |
I just don't hear anyone referencing Derrick's missed free throw at Memphis nearly as much as you heard talk about C-Webb, but point taken
|
| |
maybe I remember it cuz I really liked him at Memphis, I'm a big fan of Calipari and wanted to see him get a title
also C-Webb's timeout became bigger as his career went on and he didn't win a title or come through in the clutch
|
| |
true. easy for me to overlook it because I literally watch every single Bulls game, and he has been beyond clutch every fucking time it's been needed. game winning free throws, killer instinct in the fourth quarter -- everything.
Unless we're down by 20+ in the 4th, I never feel like we're out of it as long as D-Rose is playing. He's been that ridiculous late in games for over 2 years now.
the other thing is, if it wasn't for D-Rose bringing us back from 10 down with less than 2 minutes to go last night (all by himself mind you) then he wouldn't have even been at the line with the game in his hands. I'll chalk this one up to pure chance, he can't do it EVERY time. The player with the best clutch stats in the NBA is Carmelo Anthony, and even he only hits the game winner less than 30% of the time when there's less than 24 seconds left

I remember Rose just destroying Russell Westbrook of UCLA in the final four, Westbrook was one of the best defenders in the county and I think he fouled out, he was totally outclassed by Rose
|
| |
yeah, Westbrook is awesome, but it's much easier for him to play off of Durant than it is for Rose having to be the guy
now that Rose has a three pointer, I think he's on his way to becoming a top 3 offensive player in the NBA
|
| |
I never imagined Westbrook would do so well in the NBA, he was more of a defensive player at UCLA but everyone has to play defense under Howland
also nice to see Kevin Love (another UCLA guy) go 30/30
|
| |
yeah Love's been a beast since he got to the league, but now he's finally getting the playing time
I didn't see Westbrook being nearly this good either, especially considering he never really playing PG much at UCLA (on offense at least, I think he usually guarded the other team's best guard, regardless of SG/PG)
|
| |
I think he usually guarded the other team's best guard, regardless of SG/PG
that's right, he was an outstanding defender. That's why it was so shocking to see Rose dominate him
|
| |
still is a great defender. everyone says Rondo's the best PG on D in the NBA, but I think that's laughable. all he does is let his man blow by him then use his long-ass alien arms to reach around the back, trying for a steal. 1/10 times it works, the other 9 he either gives up a layup or hopes KG bails him out.
Westbrook is the best defensive PG in the league if you ask me, even if he is guilty of gambling in the passing lanes a bit too much for my liking.

fuck yeah Bulls.
Pacers are a bunch of dirty-playing, flopping bitches. Fuck you Tyler "gayporno" Hansborough
|
| |
tl;dr
|
| |
all right so it ssucked the Heat beat my Bulls in the playoffs but how sweet was it seeing Lebron DENIED again
and i fucking hate the Mavs but it was still so glorious
do BigHans and ConsiderPhlebas still even use this site
