Countdown is a strangely "unassuming" song. I used to underrate it a lot myself, it's so catchy in a way that it sometimes just passes by. But when I stop and give it more attention I find so much more meat than what it seems, like: the strange drum beat around 0:50, the groovy bass transition at 2:00, the synth melody around 2:45 and also the synth solo near the end of the song, the various little build-ups throughout in general, all the sound effects... I find it remarkable how a complex song can be made to go down in your ears so nicely without notice

I completely agree. It seams to be a less complex album but that doesn't comprises the usual com+plexity of the music of Rush. And that isn't a small thing. Very few bands are able to do that.
