"I got burned out of Pantera quite a while ago, although I still find joy in The Great Southern Trendkill."
So, probably their worst album? Interesting.

The Great Southern Trendkill is a good album.

Without question my least favorite. Very very weak considered alongside Far Beyond, Cowboys & Vulgar.

That intro riff in Halo still turns me into a bobble head

lol not even close, man.....pretentious Robb over-writing songs and trying so hard to be elite. One only need to refer to the Supercharger days and "Is Anybody Out There?" to see his true colors

Agree 100% about try-hard-elite Robb is better than the nu-metal. I tend to like the just straight riffy, groovy shit from them like Through the Ashes and Burn My Eyes.

I don't really get how how trying hard is a negative thing. Making an effort to outdo yourself is typically how music is supposed to work imo. The guitar work on this is godly, Phil Demmel is a beast and this is probably his stuff.

1 Great, memorable riff > unnecessary complexity and lots of mediocre riffs crammed into 1 long, meandering song.
This album is more of the latter. I agree that Phil is pretty good.
