Harlequin Forest is where Mikael's at his best for this album.

Album Rating: 4.0
well yeah because it's the best track they've ever done. the whole record is probably his best vocal performance in the discog.

Album Rating: 5.0
I don't know if Harlequin Forest is their best song but it's probably top 5

haven't listened to this one in a long time, but I'm still of the mindset that it was the last good record they put out
|

Their last awesome record maybe, but Watershed and Heritage are great too

slow but steady decline since this. hope the new one breaks that trend

judging by the first single, that seems unlikely. Heritage and Watershed are both pretty turdy. Deliverance and this one are the only post-BwP albums I really dig anymore.

Deliverance is probably Opeth's worst album.

I thought watershed was pretty good, first three tracks are amongst their best. Bear in mind, opeth never release the best songs on the album as a single (porcelain heart, grand conjuration, drapery falls)

nah Watershed is pretty bad, probably their worst album imo. at least on Heritage they committed to the prog thing, rather than just half assing it.

Their half asses effort on watershed was at least interesting from a compositional point of view. Stuff like Hessian Peel and The Lots Eater were relatively different back then and I thought it sounded great
Blows heritage and deliverance in almost every aspect

if buy blows you mean sucks their collective dicks, then yes I agree

Album Rating: 4.5
in all seriousness though, Deliverance has really interesting dark atmosphere to it, and it still brings some badass riffs to the table, whereas to me Watershed just sounds like a watered-down Ghost Reveries.
