I beg to differ. In fact, 5 of these tracks would be on my favourite floyd songs of all time. Don't worry delsni, I'm with you all the way on that one, although both are unbelievable songwriters.

Far and away the most underrated Floyd album. There are some of their best compositions on this, without Waters no less.

I love Floyd,but I can't stand this album.
Gilmour's voice ruins everything for me.

It's better than momentary lapse of reason, but still doesn't compare to the golden era of the floyd( dsotm, wywh, animals). For me the best floyd is where roger handles the lyrics and music gets written by gilmour/wright

Roger Waters was the primary engine behind all the classic Floyd albums aside from Piper and these albums seem to lack anything instrumentally challenging or any unifying lyrical theme that so characterized masterpieces such as The Wall, the Final Cut, and Animals. I strongly supporting Waters grade this slightly harshly just because it falls far short of where it should be in comparison to Floyd's other works. This is Floyd as some people seem to deny but not in spirit.
2/5 if it was by a lesser band. This Message Edited On 03.04.08

all that's missing is roger's brilliant lyrics and conceptual ideas.
every other facet of floyd remains. this is really a great album.

I can really only tolerate the instrumental tracks on this album. Gilmour's voice has never been phenomenal, but here in his prime his half-hearted attempts at conveying emotion fall completely flat. I respect that Gilmour took a step in any direction away from the trademark Waters sound - this album truly is his own manifestation, but the material is dry, the concepts vaguely interesting but poorly delivered (other than a few well-written lines, the lyrics on this album are weak.) Considering that he is one of my all time favorite guitarists, I found the lead guitar here to be lacking any standout moments. It of course isn't bad, "Marooned" is a great track, but doesn't have enough value to salvage the rest of the album. (Note, "What Do You Want From Me" isn't really included in that last generalization, I'm pretty fond of the groove of that track though still wouldn't give it much more than a 3.5/5)

Very underrated album. Along with Faith No More's 'Album of the Year' it's one of the most underrated albums I've heard.

It's okay. The reason why many reviews of this album are harsh is because Pink Floyd, rather than progressive rock in general, is used as the yardstick in which this album is compared to.

WTF!!! high hopes is like the best track on the album. actually one of their best ever. they kinda saved the best for last.

Absolutely love this album. Shows what Gilmour can do without Roger pretty much controlling the whole band. If you have ever listened to a david gilmour solo album, you will appreciate this record much more!

Underrated album. Really loving the vibe this transcends. What Do You Want from Me, Coming Back to Life and High Hopes are fantastic songs.
Also fuck Roger Waters, there's more to Pink Floyd than him.

An amazing record. All songs here are great but my favourites are What Do You Want from Me?, Poles Apart, Take It Back and specially Keep Talking and High Hopes.
High Hopes has the saddest solo I've ever heard.
An absolute classic.
