This has like 3 good songs and a load of obnoxious fauxswag jank
Bone is one of the good'uns for sure, and the other two are Kim's (shock horror)

Album Rating: 3.0
Just gave this a first listen and:
-This album is boring as fuck
-I love Sweet Shine
-I get why Bone is being praised because it's not musically boring (unlike most of this) but I swear it has Kim Gordon's worst vocals ever, so fuck Bone
|
| |
Kim's worst will always be The Ineffable Me or Kim Gordon and the Arthur Doyle Hand Cream, but Sweet Shine is ez the best here yes
|
| |
Johnny why do your ratings never align with your thoughts. “has like 3 good songs and a load of obnoxious fauxswag jank” does not sound deserving of a 3.0 a/k/a “good” !!!!

this is defs one of my more generous 3s, but that comment should probs have read 'great songs' and i will never edit it

Album Rating: 3.0
What are your other 2? Sweet Shine and?....
I guess Self-Obsessed and Sexxee was almost great, but pooped out in the end

Album Rating: 3.0
Bull in the Heather grew on me, even if it's kinda missing something
|
| |
Bull in the Heather (is most definitely missing something, in an edgy tense way - that song's all about the draw) and Bone (great laconic Kim moment, love how ~askew those verses are)

Album Rating: 3.0
I've only heard Bone once (giving the album 2nd listen through right now) and I absolutely hated it that first time
|
| |
I mean, I guess the noise parts it has in place of a chorus are kinda unfocused and not a huge draw on their own, but beyond that it's vintage Kim for the same reasons that any other song where she's not yelling through the studio walls is vintage Kim

2nd listen thoughts:
Winner's Blues - boring, but not bad 3/5
Bull in the Heather - mad cool, but missing that WOW factor - 4/5
Starfield Road - did they write half a song wtf? It's an okay half a song I guess - 3/5
Skink - Kim's not even tying on this one - 2/5
Screaming Skull - I GO THERE, yeah we get it Thurston - 2/5
Self-Obsessed and Sexxee - mad cool, but missing that WOW factor - 4/5
Bone - The music is cool, but Kim's vocal delivery is even worse than on Skink - 2/5
Androgynous Mind - About a gay guy I guess? I don't know. Boring - 3/5
Quest for the Cup - Following the vocals with the guitar is uh idk meh - 3/5
Waist - Another meh but not bad - 3/5
Doctor's Orders - This one's just lame - 2/5
Tokyo Eye - I like the percussion and weird vocals, not really amazing, but good - 4/5
In the Mind of the Bourgeois Reader - Is he just saying random shit that sounds cool? The riff's cool at least - 3/5
Sweet Shine - Classic song that doesn't deserve to be on this album - 5/5

Classic song that doesn't deserve to be on this album [2]
I now feel secure enough in this to drop my rating :]

I think that Kathleen Hanna in the Bull In The Heather video was a sexual awakening for me in the 90's as a young 9 year old boi
EDIT: wow, can an band's entire discography be wiped from your ratings??? I swore I had rated all these a long time ago.
