This album is shitty arena rock. Translating the Name was at least passionate, even though it had predictable chord progressions. This album proves that those chord progressions are the only ones they know.

Not only did they reuse all of the same progressions they've used in the past, but you've heard this entire album before. The entire warped tour EP is here, rerecorded, as is 'I have become what I always hated' (Come Close) and 'I Can Tell' (I can't remember which song follows the same progression, but it's on the album). The best part is that the originals were mediocre-bad, but still better than the overproduced shit that appears on this disc. This album has no variety, and belongs on the radio - not in the underground.

I agree that Anthony Green is a lot better, but this is still great stuff. If they could only still scream...

I wasn't trying to be a troll. I was giving my honest opinion. This album blows.

Honestly, it's pointless to compare this to TTN since the guitarists are the only members that are the same.

P.S. Devin Townsend pwnz

Seriously, though - if you dislike an album and state it, you're suddenly a troll? What? This Message Edited On 01.04.08

This albums blows so hard, Cove is a terrible singer at least Green was good on record but this guy sucks recorded and live.

You basically know why Green left/was kicked out cause he liked to drink and do some drugs, these guys are up tight about that shit........lame.

The only thing decent if I remember correctly was the drum work.

The drumwork is pretty sick. I think Green is clean now. Also, he quit. He wasn't kicked out.

The real reason I think this band is so bad that I gave this album a 1 is as follows. (This applies to TTN as well, but that disc is short and has other stuff going for it so it's easy to ignore.) The only chord progression they know is scale degree 1 to scale degree 6. Sometimes they add 7 in passing between the two, and sometimes they go 1-3-6-7, but every song they've written is a combination of these three progressions: they've only written one song, and they've written it over and over again. Here, I'll break it down:

Seven Years: Verse: 1-6 Chorus: 1-3-6-7

Translating the Name: Verse: 1-6 Chorus: 1-7-6-7 then 1-6

3rd Measurement (same as I Can Tell and Voices): Verse: 1-7-6-7 Chorus: 1-3-6-7

Lost Symphonies: Verse: 1-7-6-7 Chorus: 1-6-7

I Have Become / Come Close: Verse: 1-7-6-7 Chorus: 1-6

Bury Your Head: Verse: 1-3-7-6 Chorus: 1-6

I think you get the idea. Literally every song they've ever written works exclusively off of these progressions. They wrote one generic song, then wrote it over and over again, making it less passionate and more overproduced each time. WEAK!This Message Edited On 01.14.08

^That's nowhere near enough rationale to justify a 1 rating.

Nope, Sleepers is 1-7-6 (it just doesn't go back to 6). Literally every single song uses those progressions. I could go through every single song on that album to prove it if you really want me to.

Writing one unoriginal song with no redeeming value 12 times and calling it an album is DEFINITELY a good enough reason for a rating of 1.

i don't understand why like... all 9 of your comments are on an album you hate... if you hate it fine, just hate it in silence or in one post, don't keep on and ruin it for those of us that like it. go post in a thread of a band that you enjoy, not despise. This Message Edited On 01.15.08

I actually found this to be suprisingly good. It's as roofi says. All the songs sound the same but they do it so damn well. I enjoy this.

They are structured the same, and use the same chord progressions a lot. The only real variance is tempo and key. Like I said before, though, that's not a bad thing for them. There's actually not really a song on here I dislike.

They've got a good sound but they use it on practically each song. Their only trick to vary the songs is to either slow them down or speed them up. Considerign what a skilled vocalist Cove obviously is (seriously his voice is great) you'd have hoped that they'd utilise him in a few more different ways.
