I already like the first track better than anything on their last couple albums. They really do sound reinvigorated here.

Wow, and a sample at the start of the second track lol, they really are taking some inspiration from old material.

I really dug Hushed & Grim, for me their best since Crack The Skye, which remains their best record. This new one is absolutely fantastic, proggier, definitely calling back some of the Blood Mountain & Crack the Skye style with a newer spin on how they vary their style across the album. The Planet Caravan influenced Vanishing is fantastic, the final track reminded me of Porcupine Tree & Opeth as it sunk into that guitar solo with what sounded melotron esque underneath it. There are some immense riffs, Golden Spires especially.

Four tracks in it's giving Blood Mountain, not leastly because a handful of Snakes for Dinner's licks are literally off Capillarian Crest (eg. 0:37)

Goddamn, hyped! About to give it a spin.

Agreed, one of their best album art covers. And Mastodon have some of the best. Just noticed this is 65 mins as well. Long, but not too long! Hushed is great but def suffers from being overlong.
My three favorite Mastodon joints are Crack the Skye, Blood Mountain and Emperor of Sand. Wondering if this will break through. I have a feeling it might overtake EoS, based on what I’m reading

Digging more than a handful of tracks here.
Also nice initial reception here m/

Last three tracks were kinda lame tbh. Ending with "Moth and Bone" would've been the play, I think.
