It's the perfect transformation for her imo, Gyro. Very dreamy and cohesive, with less emphasis on big singles and more emphasis on making a true album experience. It probably sounds lame or insincere, but I really mean it when I say I'm proud of her for making this. It shows a level of artistic intuition and growth that I wasn't sure we'd get out of her.

I know it's been mentioned before, but the transition from 'freak' to 'warning sings (interlude)', wow

In general, ever since thank u, next, she has definitely started to work towards creating cohesive albums, but this one's the first since then that doesn't veer into homogeneity

Sowing "Everyone has different taste! Maybe it'll grow, who knows. I'm just partial to atmospheric/indie-leaning pop like this."

I remember you liking a lot of indie leaning pop even "back i nthe days".. and making me discover some really nice albums.. But this one just doesnt hit. .It is not bad per say..

I just prefer Dangerous Women and thank u, next over this. Hell maybe Sweetener over this... Even though im still not a fan of her work in general.. She is too "safe"

Woah woah, what the heck is this "respectful disagreement" nonsense

I thought music discourse was supposed to be "everybody is wrong except me"

Nah Munsu that makes total sense. Liking thank u, next and in particular Dangerous Woman is pretty consistent with her standard pop trajectory and there's nothing wrong with enjoying that more. She's where she is for a reason. I also think without those records, petal wouldn't have happened, so I've got nothing but love for them (especially the two you mentioned, which just happen to be my favorites prior to this new release).

Platypus, the only one I like to disagree with is Hawks because for real , they act too much like a troll and their ratings make no sense to me

I wish I liked this more, but at the same time it has been a banger year for pop music

homewrecker ED woman album ok (seriously, how do you develop an ED that late into your life? yes, I'm being mean, but... it's coming from a place of both concern and confusion)

@Verdr - I believe she's had ED struggles for most of her life, dating back to her teenage acting days. It's just particularly bad right now.

And while the homewrecker claims aren't completely unfounded, I think it's worth nothing that Ethan Slater's a grown adult and it was his choice to leave his wife/kid behind.

One of these days I'll stop unbanning budgie and the site will be better off for it. Perhaps today is that day.

I'm sure he's just trolling, but the subject matter hardly seems like something to be joking about right now.

Yeah I dunno he couldn't wait to shit up this thread, not sure what the goal was in referencing skeletons 3 times in one comment as if it was subtle and then repeatedly trying to steer the conversation towards her body like a weirdo when there was actual musical discourse occurring

Oh damn, I actually didn't see his earlier comments; just the most recent one. Knowing that wasn't the first one makes the whole thing ickier.

I think we spent a small part of this thread talking about her appearance in a respectable way, as in "Hopefully she's getting the support she needs"

So hopefully we can get back to discussing this album; speaking of which, 'big feelings' has been stuck in my head
