Our rankings are similar... actually, our top 6 are basically the same, except I'd maybe put Life's a Dream at 1 - that track is peak MM. I'd also put Dogbed lower. That's the only track here that i find a little grating on repeat listens.

'Dogbed' isn't my favourite but it makes the album feel more vintage Modest Mouse - for that reason and general pacing I like it enough.
The 'Give it a Skeleton' part is a solid 1:40 interlude/track.

Damn, most of your (y’all’s?) song ratings are the same, save for 2 or 3.

I can't decide yet if this is like a super badass album or just good. Either way, I know the energy and flow and decisions here feel a lot less cooked than the last two albums (a good thing!), even if I liked those 2 records. I wouldn't stumble outta the gates with cries of "return to form!" but there's definitely a lax, dark energy here that harkens back to some salad days of Mouse. I like the last two records a lot but this already far exceeds them in terms of try hard points

It's pretty good for new modest mouse, can't touch the classics though

First half is very good second half is pretty awful

If there's one big criticism I have, it's that it is indeed front-loaded. The first 4 tracks in particular are noticeably better than the rest of the album, with the exception of a few tracks like Absolute Necessary, Rotten Fruit, and Speak n Spell. The entire last 4 tracks is a rly disappointing way to end the album. The hits on here hit really hard though.

Somewhere between a 3.2 to 3.4 for me, a couple great tracks then falls off quickly. Absolutely Necessary is pretty decent tho. Way better than their last two releases

Definitely feels a bit front-loaded, but nothing here is outright bad, whereas TGC had at least a few truly terrible songs
So far Speak'n'Spell is the big winner outside of the opening run for me. Might actually be my 2nd fav after Third Side of the Moon

Second half just has filler stuff and the typical excess this band can't stop themselves from indulging in. "Knocked Down by Waves" and "Stoner Party" should have been axed. Even as interludes they almost derail things simply because neither song contributes anything to the album that isn't done better on other tracks. But I do love the energy in "Look How Far" and "Impossible Somedays" reminds me of "People As Places As People" which I think should have been the closer on WWD instead of "Invisible"
But I agree with others that the opening 4-track run is almost too good compared to what follows which progressively has diminishing returns.

I agree that it's a bit front-loaded, but I think I'm in firm "this is a great Mouse record" territory
