Devin is probably amongst my favorite metal musicians of all time, maybe top 3, even to this day, which is why it feels almost weird to say that I haven't connected with any of his albums since Transcendence. From then onwards, it's just been about some ocasional moments of brilliance amongst a jumble of ideas and a bit too much self-indulgence for my taste. This album is exactly that, once again.
I still admire him immensely, though. Sometimes just hearing/reading interviews of his is some of the most inspiring stuff there is, for me, and I'm definitely happy to see him in a good place mentally.

I love how EVERYONE loves and appreciates Devin, even those who don't enjoy his music. The man is a treasure.

He definitely seems a lot happier/healthier than how he used to be, which is something I can congratulate him for despite being more into the music that he made when he was in a worse place mentally. Still hoping that second Casualties album is still in the pipeline because I really enjoyed the first one.

Agree with the majority here. Love Devin, really enjoyed his podcast during the pandemic (until he went off track with it, typical Devin things) and like pretty much all of his albums up to Transcendence. Since then, nothing has gripped me at all. I think he’s an artist who needs to be self-indulgent in a lot of ways, but his best work has had something or someone to reign him in a bit

The orchestral stuff is bit too much for my taste. He does have an idiosyncratic melodic style that I love and I can absolute relate to the feeling of needing to do a project like this. He made this purely for himself
