christbait knows whats up but you gotta throw windhunter in there too. FL trial is exactly right on those electronic tracks they're so barren and underdeveloped lol

"I'm fully willing to chalk this up to the fact that I'm not super familiar with Lantlos' discography, but I'm doing my first listen of this right now and I honestly don't hate it. At least haven't gotten to anything distractingly bad or grating."
As a staunch defender of Wildhund, I can't reason away some of the creative decisions on this one. It is an active regression from what he did on the last album. I think it's because I'm not aware of his side projects and others have pointed out that this seems to be him subsuming Lantlos under that pop/glitch/metal direction. Also just noticed he did all the drums on this record rather than using his buddy Felix. I think I have a better understanding of why this record is what it is.

and i mean that with extreme prejudice

It’s a better pop metal album than the new gaerea album at least

This is metal in the same way Take Off Your Pants and Jacket is a punk album.

Hawks would you rather listen to Emotion ten consecutive times or listen to this album one more time

Metal purists hate it because it’s about going outdoors

Put the first song on expecting some airy gazey melodies and wound up turning it off within 30 seconds
I'll come back to this and give it a fair shot now that I know what I'm getting into but I'm kind of expecting this to go the way the new gaerea did (not good)

new gaerea sucks balls yeah

New Gaerea is way heavier and more metal than this, but is a cynical attempt to copy mainstream bands. This is just a one man project knobbing around with different ideas which don’t always work out

I'm relisteming to Wildhund and realizing I'd kind of forgotten what that album sounded like. This probably isn't as big of a jump from that as I originally thought. I was still thinking of their sound on Melting Sun

Wildhund is the biggest jump in their discography for sure. This is still a jump but Melting Sun > Wildhund is jarring

Honestly maybe I’m just a Lantlos fanboy but I’m digging this. It’s def more of a mixed bag overall and has too many electronic/pop tracks but I still enjoy it.

wildhund rules, this reminded me to jam it again.

Yeah, this is not great, especially when compared to his other albums. I'm gonna slap a 2.5 on this because there's obviously effort and it's not a *bad* album--just terribly boring.

I mostly agree with MTO's take - the worst songs are just snoozers to me, rather than being subjectively awful. But there were a few songs I enjoyed.

If nothing else it's reminded me about this guy's discog and I've enjoyed revisiting that over the afternoon

Yeah, this isn't good. I liked Daisies and Clockwork had some great moments, but everything else was either aggressively mid or just straight up baffling. Ghosts is probably the worst song I've heard in a long while.
