Most reviews are postive, unless you look at only Pitchfork's and somethingawful's reviews...

Haha.

Silly mushroom.

Anyway, I like that middle section in Tetragrammaton with Cedric's voice distorted as if it were withering is very cool. I thought first lesson the album lacked the catchiness of past albums, but it has soem catchy moments, the choruses do the trick, and overall is a good experience.

I absolutely loved Deloused in the Comatorium and Tremulant but Frances the Mute never grew on me. But after 3 listens so far, I think it´s awesome. Not better than DiC and Tremulant, but still awesome.

This album is amazing. I really can't get enough of it. From Omar's amazing style to Cedrics beautiful voice, everything about this album is well executed and I couldn't ask for more. My main question here is to the Reviewer. I would like to know how you compare Omar's music/riffs to bands like King Crimson and Yes. I understand the whole "70s rock" influence, but I hear more of a Floyd-Zep rather than KC and Yes. Exactly which songs from TMV sound "in your terms" like complete rip offs of KC and Yes? Thanks

Ugh. Frances the Mute was a finely crafted album and reinvigorated prog rock. This sounds like an epileptic fit of "The Mars Volta" (WHO ARE YOU KIDDING OMAR AND CEDRIC IT'S ALL YOU) truly going overboard, and proving that the aimlessly grandiose, idiotic ambition of bands like Emerson Lake & Palmer still lives on. I hope they pull their heads out of wherever they have them in (I can't tell by the lyrics) and experiment within reason with whatever they had on the first two albums.

this is the best release by the mars volta. end of story.

meccaamputechture i must say is a bit of a bore to me.

every other song is just a work of art. their albums are a journey that just some people do not like which is a fair point you cant really say the mars volta are ok.

they are either too overwhelming or just a musical masterpiece to people really.

i love them theyre one of my favourite bands ever.

NOT too long. that was a really good review. only thing i disagree with is when you say bands like Tool focus too much on overly-serious subject matters. but really Tool has at least 2 songs in each album that cover funny subject material. It's the fans of Tool who present their music in an over the top serious matter.
