Why is pitchfork such a trash, contrarian source for music? Literally the only site that didn’t get the memo.

Well, shiiiiiittt….
Never been a fan of Zombie’s solo work, not even the first two albums. But I love White Zombie. Not sure whether I should check this out though…
Shocked by the good reviews after the last few albums though. That’s the only reason I’m even considering listening.

Also wanted to note that this is the first album in a loooong time where he’s solely focusing on music, rather than simultaneously developing a film project. I think he stretched himself thin and the cartoonish, half assed executions of his last several albums is at least partly attributable to that.
Because here we go, no film project and his best album in decades apparently.

I think most of the credit comes from Mike and blasko tbh. Might be wrong but I’ve always felt that zombie just adds lyrics and vocals and doesn’t have much in the way of how the actual music is made. It’s really shocked me, because it shows how clean and toothless the sound has been under John’s tenure, and I love John.
But even outside of the instrumental work, zombie just sounds really focused here; there’s a real grit to his performances.

Listened to this again over the weekend while doing some house chores. "Tarantula" has become my song of the month and gives me heavy "Dragula" vibes which, ironically, I commented on on the first page. I feel trashy as hell listening to this, but it's so punchy and angry and weird.

Album is by far the best thing they’ve done since Hellbilly Deluxe

How does it compare to that album though? Is it as fun?

after reading this I knew I would enjoy the album more than most of his output since Helbilly deluxe but I didn’t expect this to be THIS much of a banger. Holy shit

Its solid, I dont think the electronic elements are as interesting as they were on HD. I think he has some interesting inflections on that album that he kinda misses on this too but he does have some power behind his voice and seems to be taking his duties seriously again. Best songs to me were tarantula, heathen days, punks and demons, and devilman.

The simplicity shines.
Simple riffs that chug.
Kitschy but effective stereotypical horror infused lyrics.
For once Rob finally acknowledges his lane in the pantheon of music and delivers.

Idk what it is about this man and his music which repels me so much. I refuse to believe the average, but we shall see

I can only take so much of this man yelling “rock and roll werewolf pussy” over stock groove metal and industrial backing tracks.

Yeah I officially gotta check this out for sure. Hoping to see some of that white zombie caliber talent on display.

Wasn't expecting to actually enjoy a Rob Zombie album in 2026, but here we are. Pretty good stuff.

Heathen Days and Tarantula go so hard. I love how grimy this thing is.
