those are much more death metal albums than they are black metal

Imp Trump are both. They have perhaps moved further towards disso-death than bm in more recent times, but they were closer to bm to begin with. They combine the two (along with varying degrees of avant / jazz influences) on the majority of their albums.

Agreed with that. Their early stuff is more straight-up raw bm.

tbf i was responding to the guy who was referring to their post 2020 stuff. i should check them out in full though, meant to get to goldstar but just never go around to it. sounded good though.

Goldstar grew on me so hard. I was not a fan at first.

Like its good don't get me wrong. I just don't get why people are so boned up about it.

I suppose I am stretchting it with Imp's post-2020 albums, but I feel as though they are still blackened enough to qualify. Even still, I think they are but one good contender. Thantifaxath would be another more indisputably bm one (that for some reason I totally forgot to mention).

Bermuda over this easily. OCHL is one of the worst albums ever made though.

new bermuda has some great songs but it's so clunky to me. very much felt like they were trying prove detractors wrong and that they could be more metal.

I can understand that tbh.

there's an interview where they say bermuda was an answer to people saying snbthr wasn't metal enough actually lol

Agreed one MILLION percent.

OCHL was my first deafheaven so i have a soft spot for it, and I completely get why people don't like it. However, I think if you removed the first song it'd be a perfect album.

this is going to continue to age spectacularly and be thought of as one of the best albums of the decade (2)
I can listen to this all day, and even tho i love Sunbather i must admit if i listen to it too much it gets really tiresome.
New Bermuda has some real bangers and a couple of songs from there would easily top a list of their best songs.
I feel OCHL is overhated here. Honeycomb and Canary Yellow are amazing.
Infinite Granite grew on me when i started to appreciate it for what it was and i got over the initial shock that they released an album i did not expect from them at all.
Roads To Judah is good but gets overshadowed by almost all their albums so i forget to revisit it lol
