Blackmurmuur is best here yeah, but whole album kicks ass.

I like this, but not *that* much. Riffs are cool and I like the keys and atmosphere, but the mix is a little bit too... big, idk, and it's pretty lacking in bass. Maybe it'll grow

One moster of an album. The amount of effort that went into composing this thing is insane. Took me probably no less than 10 spins to just get a grasp of what's going on. Every song is hell of a journey with so many details, even the relatively 'shorter' ones, and every song is a thing of its own. I was at first skeptical towards all this retro-synth fest but in the end it all works very well. Still, my preference is with more post-metal stuff like like Emmett and No Dreams which are absolute candies. Another step forward in terms of production, everything is articulated way better than it was on Woe which now sounds kinda restrained in comparison.
All in all, after considerable amount of spins it's safe to say I like this even more than Woe, which seemed almost impossible beforehand. Third album in a row executed on this level from a band that started from nowhere, now that's not something you see often.

I read some complaints on this and yes, the drums somewhat steal the spotlight, but not in a like previous Kardashev kind of way. And yes, it's brickwalled, but just as much as everything today is (and not like Disarmonia Mundi).
On a side note, I compared CD sound and web lossless sound and they are in fact different, CD version sounds more like Woe with less highs, web version sounds more sharp and clear. Not that probably anyone cares but anyway.

The vinyl of this sounds amazing and the album itself is best at max volume.

Objectively, this album is very likely better than Woe.
Personally, this album is just not quite as good as Woe, and I can't quite put my finger on the "why."

It's easily their best. Previous two albums kinda suck imo lol.

I don't think I've czeched any of their work before Woe--maybe I'll give it a try just to see what they were like as they were finding their footing.
Woe just feels like such a magnum opus that fires on all cylinders: atmosphere, riffs, length, etc. Yeah, the lyrics are cringy but I don't pay them much mind anyways.
Honestly, it probably just has the first-mover advantage in my brain; had this album come out first, I wonder if I would like it more than Woe. It's such a neck-and-neck race.

I was introduced to them via Woe. Don't care too much about their earlier stuff. When I wanted to order Woe on vinyl I decided to preorder Sleeping City on vinyl too in the hopes it'd be 80% of Woe, but I like Sleeping City much more.

Previous outing was terribly underwhelming, but I might still give this band a shot (if I can muster the will). 90.
