still can't get into this band unfortunately lol. it's all in one ear and out the other. there's for sure a few cool riffs here but i wish they'd ride them a bit longer the best moments always feel so short. rly don't like the cleans either. oh well

Wtf is this, was not expecting to dislike this so much when I first put it on. Feels super meandering and disjointed. Took until the end of let us live for me to start enjoying something. Quieter parts are pointless and not good. Cleans suck and they especially ruin Hang Them in Your Head. Riffs are simplistic and super boring for the most part. Feels like a generic core album. Haven't listened to all of Mire in a while, but I feel like they switched up the tempo in an interesting way a lottt more on that one.

Pathos sits in this extremely specific niche for me where it's like my perfect heavy album, so it was going to be hard to follow up.

back to 3.9 lmao

finding myself agreeing with a lot of suppatime's criticism unfortunately, as even if a few of the individual elements that made Mire / Pathos enjoyable are present, the execution leaves much to be desired

Pathos is undeniably better than this in my book, after carefully listening through both. It feels a bit more balanced or focused with how extremely heavy it gets and how it incorporates subtle melodic elements, rather than mostly being all out, like Unself. Both definitely deserve a 4+ though, lol. Searing Glow and Foreclosure are hidden gems.
