Also big agree on Undertow being a Water EP song. Also the closer is an Air song. Lots of subtle throwbacks here

Unitive/west has running to be thrice’s weirdest song to date. Someone commented that it feels very Swans inspired. Dustin sounds like he’s singing over a Philip glass instrumental.

Even the group chant in Blackout reminds me of Image of the Invisible.

All the callbacks feel intentional

I didn't mind Palms, so all these comparisons have just peaked my interest 🤣 but I'm a weird Thrice fan, my favourite album by these guys is Beggars so! Artist in the Ambulance is a close 2nd though.

Beggars is also my favorite! Lyrically one of the best albums I've ever heard.

I got into these guys post-hiatus, so the shock of the stylistic changes didn't affect me too much. I just appreciated everything they've done, but for some reason Beggars just sticked with me.

Hmmm, first impressions: I wasn't liking much for a while but the last 4-5 tracks definitely pulled me back in.

I guess it's time to eat my words a bit. Horizons/East is actually better than this. All songs are decent at least, but the mixing is terrible. Certain choruses, like Distant Suns, have choruses where Dustin is way too quiet in the mix and I can barely hear the vocals. Some of the choices instrumentally are dumb too and theres really no consistency with the flow of the album. I dunno, maybe I need a few more listens, but I'm more like a 3 not a 4.

Surprised by the lukewarm reception this is getting. Feels to me to undeniably be their best in a while.

One of my favorite bands ever, but I dunno, the last couple albums all just kind of feel the same.

Also I'd probably really like Gnash if it didn't have that goofy ass distorted bass. Reminds me of when Radiohead put salsa drums on the first song from TKOL...it's like why ruin what could be a really good song with unnecessary BS?

Definitely the most "Thrice" song they've done in a while

I just want a Thrice album with catchy songs and Dustin belting anthems is it too much to ask

Everytime I hear the chorus of Crooked Shadows, I know now he says "its gonna set on you", but it literally sounds like "he's gonna shit on you" and I can't un-hear it lol

@treos777 I would disagree personally, I would say Major/Minor was their peak, but I think Beggars amd Major/Minor are very close together.
