compositionally, this feels like children of the moon in that it requires a full listen from beginning to end

Album title is a reference to an article Jordan read about a self driving Tesla that crashed and burned, killing two people.

Meh.

Maybe it grows on me. I hope it does. But, I checked out the Bloom Dream rec right after this and that was a shocking reminder that the musicians around the vocalist are allowed to be interesting and not nap through 90% of an album

Don't love them ending an album in such a similar way as the last one when You Ascendant was already maybe the best song they put out in 10 years

End Times Sermon really is chilling. god, put a fucking all our bruised bodies esque track between t/t and that and we have the 5, im sure of it.

I need to give this another go. It's the type of album I should insta-5 but for as objectively excellent as the musicianship and lyrics are, something felt off first time around.

@Sowing in terms of ambition and to an extent, sonically, this reminded me of Foxing s/t. thematic similarities too.

also, can those two tour already. best frontmen i can think of atm + carson daoboys

I'm re-listening to it now and enjoying it a fair bit more. Might have just needed to be in the right mindset. Mad mwY vibes and I'm here for it.

interestingly enough, although these guys were obviously attempting something similar to mwY, i dont think theyve ever sounded like them until this album (especially Autofiction Detail). Wonder if them being done made Jordan want to actively channel that.

Same here. I always saw the comparisons and understood why they were made, but didn't *feel* it. Here, I feel like I'm listening to an angry Aaron Weiss and it's glorious.

Halfway through my 2nd spin and this is really starting to grow on me. The lyrics are phenomenal. So much anger and so much truth.

This is my first La Dispute album and it bored the shit out of me. I couldn't finish it.

I assumed Environmental Catastrophe would be my easy #1 but *my god* End Times Sermon just hit me right in the gut.
