i meant that (based on my limited exposure) there's been so much hype about "revival deathcore" and this band in particular. and they're being held up as the best of the best. so "is this your god?" meaning "this is the object of your praise and adulation?". bc i'm pretty let down by this record. different strokes tho, not trying to yuck the yum.

a lot of the bands you see pop up more had their years of doing local shows and small tours. they def worked hard to make this happen and the same ppl propping them are the same that saw them live and supporting them throughout.

But I agree this isn’t anything to prop up. Like it isn’t bad but it’s not word of mouth worthy

the kids say otherwise

same “kids” that word-of-mouth’d slipknot to popularity. these guys get mentioned in south florida often.

i mostly heard about psycho frame from youtube in all the "real deathcore is back", so maybe i got too hyped about it.

but i hear you relinquished. i think the way i see it is "the kids" you describe as propping it up weren't there on the first wave. which, believe me, i'm not begrudging them for that - anything to grow the scene, i'm about it. to my ear, however, i don't see how this takes the deathcore sound and improves it or puts a new angle on it. it seems like a simple rehashing of sound that was developed 15-20 years ago.

I don't think this is supposed to take the genre and evolve it. I just think it's fun Deathcore.

It's not even fun though, it's exhausting to listen to.

This is the most I've ever enjoyed deathcore. I'm enjoying it quite a lot. It's mostly just straight up angry and groovy and not sad.

if i'm looking for something "fun", i usually go to Bodysnatcher. if that point of reference helps to illustrate where i'm coming from.

idk something about this psych-frame record isn't landing for me right now, but glad that people are hyped on a deathcore album

I've seen these guys' name slide across youtube and whatnot and finally decided to give them a listen. Liking it so far! We'll see how the full album hits.
