naz i definitely trust you but what is some other revival stuff? everything i've heard has just been pretty average and fails to really capture the era.

Really? They don't sound wanky to me tbh. I honestly got some bm vibes in some of the riffs.

The best recent stuff to me is Delilah - bloodonyourhands, Girl of Glass - Son Devouring His Saturn, katywentmissing - A Heartfelt Promise, Until the Bitter End - Yours Truly, and Wocket Launcher - Demo 2024.
Most of this is on the more melodic side, ranging from As Blood Runs Black worship to a more Crimson Armada - Guardians sound like on Wocket Launcher's demo.

lots of demos interesting. guess the movement is really just in it's infancy haha. i'll check a few out.
one i heard this year was volatile ways. sure you've heard it lol. thought it was pretty good and captured that more slam-y beatdown sound. very early suicide silence. didn't love it but i liked it more than this so i should revisit again. def potential there, they've got a sick female vocalist.

Zarathustra was first person in recorded history to advocate the prohibition of hallucinogenic substances. Won't support based solely on that fact. Also album title is, errr, what do these tiktokers call it... ohio-mid cringe
There's my hot take for the month sput.
|
| |
It’s a reference to Nietzsche’s Zarathustra, not the historical one. My only quibble with the name is I prefer “spake”, but I might be in the minority.

There has been a revival of deathcore/metalcore in the last 6 months to a year.
It doesn't match the original wave (2000's until 2008ish) but this is very good. It is nice to listen to refreshing artists paying homage to the golden days.

Let's see if I like this, not that much into deathcore so please take my opinion with a grain of salt haha

Okay this is awesome; deathcore, scenecore and melodic death metal nicely combined. Strangely accessible and very fun. Also very decent production!
