My recent guilty pleasure is watching YouTube 'content creators' pretending to listen to Sleep Token for the first time and over-reacting to the genre changes. This album is catnip to them. One of them called Sleep Token 'this generation's Beatles' - blasphemy!

This really isn't that bad.

"Album might somehow be even more laughable than their previous one"
nah, this is irredeemably dull, whereas I'm sure the last one unearthed the odd disbelieving smirk at what they were attempting to pull off. There are no such moments here.

Album is good, ya'll are just a bunch of haters.
I predict this thread will be an even bigger shit show than the take me back to eden thread was/is.

Agree with Liberator entirely. First EPs and couple of albums were way less on the nose and actually contained songs that felt cohesive. The formulaic genre whiplash that started to emerge in TMBTE has done a big disservice to their musicality. This album has one trick, and that trick is sickly gloss.

ooh, don't get my hopes up!

it wont, this is way less offensive than TMBTE which unfortunately makes it less of a lightning rod for discussion.
heard about half of this and yeah, its pretty boring. may come back to it and try to give it a more formal rating but probably unlikely. band is like oil in water with respect to my current taste, extremely clean (yet somehow still poor) production and zero nuance. lyrics are p bad. vessel is borderline unlistenable for me at this point.

“I know I should be touring / I know these chords are boring”
💀💀💀

yeah i don't see this being anything like as polarising as Eden, not nearly as many strong opinions from fans and much more bottom of the barrel commercial shite which, like or loathe it, i get the feeling we're mostly on the same page with

"record has been doing nothing but chasing climaxes without getting hard first" lmfao yes jesp
way less offensive but still very very boring

I’m only 3 tracks in and I have a hard time imagining this is a 1.5. I get this band had a lot of haters on this site tho.

still don't see what all the hate-fuss is about this band, though i do kind of enjoy seeing it getting dunked on just to take their pretentious fucking fans down.

The fans are honestly embarrassing sometimes, and I say that as a fan myself

it would be fine if they just accepted it's not groundbreaking genius shit, it's just djent pop and i like that decently well

Album Rating: 1.0
isn't it just a case of the fanbase being generally young and impressionable (for the most part), at least with regards to all the "groundbreaking genius" stuff
and yeah, I doubt this gets the same traction as a 'debate' on here as Eden did

Apologizing to my airpods in advance for listening to this at work on low battery.

Yeah, the fanbase is cringe and I won’t defend the folks well into their thirties but a good deal of their fans are really young. As far as embarrassing heavy music, I can think of far worse on ramps for folks to get into metal than Sleep Token.
That being said, the singles for this actually made me lol
|
| |
you'd think the only way is up if you start with djent pop
but some folks will always find a way to lower the bar

This band would be good if they made an album full of tracks that sound like Vore
