I have tinnitus now. Album becomes more interesting in second half... or I adapted to intensity.

Murky dm/bm like this is some of my favorite stuff nowadays. When done correctly like this of course. Jam the new Black Curse too if you haven't.

This is cool, but I'm not a big fan of the mix. The guitars are in the background and covered by way too much echo, imo. I haven't tried it with speakers, but with earphones, this mix is a bit eh.

Ok, another spin. I wonder if this is what they playing to all those dangerous apprehended soccer players, make-up artists and students in Guantanamo Bay nowadays.
But dark humor aside, it takes some psychoacoustic adjusting, but it is worth it.
I also relistened to Black Curse after this and it was much more digestible than what I remembered. Another example of setting yourself up to properly enjoy some types of music.

regarding the muddy production - I haven't listened to the previous album, but I thought this sounded much clearer than any of their older stuff, drums especially kick ass. sounds like death/black through war metal filter to me

This is hella chunky, brings the girth arhd. Is the mix ideal? Idk really but it does have a certain atmospheric appeal. I can see why people may find this fatiguing tho.
However, my instincts are telling me that I daren’t reach for my open backs, my ears would likely explode if this is what it’s like with a closed pair, lol. Tinnitus ahoy!

I would say the mix caught me by surprise with just HOW muddy it is, but I also think jt works to their advantage.

Started off really digging this but felt a little washed out by the end. Borderline enervating even (?) but there's something about it that keeps pulling me back.
DEATH is still their peak though and it's not really that close (imo).

@tectactoe, not sure about that, I would even be tempted to say that the second part of the album is better than the first. Hard agree on Death being peak though
Also agreeing with @SpiritCrusher about the production

That's fair. I'm sure if this is "your thing", you will absolutely love it, because it sounds/seems like it is that thing for fifty unrelenting minutes. I'm still not sure where I sit overall on "war metal" (or whatever you want to call Teitanblood's brand of gray-wall-of-sound metal) and my exposure to it is far less than something like straight up death or black metal. As such I've no major or reliable points of reference. I'm just intuiting that I THINK I would like this better, generally, if it were, like, 33 minutes long or something. Just spitballing here.
Edit: and to be clear, I still do like this. Strong 'like not love' vibes though.

yeah, kinda feeling like I was enjoying it before the sheer length really started to lose me. S'all a bit homogenous / one-note innit... now there's nothing wrong with that per se, but if it's not completely your ideal bag, then it can be a tad tiresome
In a different style, yet also oppressively ugly, chunky and (over)looooong / not ideally paced, was Thou's last album. It felt like a shorter bursts would've been beneficial there too. Bringing it up because I felt similarly

Last Thou varies in mood way more
