Reference or tribute whatever, some songs here sound too much like other artists (Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Bjork...)
Striptease is a gorgeous song though

the proper "bangers" on this thing are really good (childlike things being a big exception) but the more r&b leaning stuff feels kinda aimless
def more of a singles artist than album artist for me

I actually really like Childlike Things, but also why put it on this album and out of all the collabs she could have done, why North West lol

Striptease is amazing tho

feels like a striptease agreed

Childlike Things bangs, works v nicely as a showstopper for this album (which defs needed one tbh)
but yeah, Striptease/24 Hr Dog is the money shot here, pretty silly calling this a bangers vs. R&B tracks album when half the songs are ambidextrous between the two (and the early bangers are the most basic, dispensable tracks)

barring the brat comps i keep seeing, i wonder how much this will do for me, give me like a ballpark estimation of what to expect i guess
|
| |
in an ideal world, not knowing what to expect is how everyone would feel when they heard an album for the first time - just jam it
|
| |
what i mean is more "what would the right mood to jam this in" because a lot of my recent digs have leaned a certain way and, the way to ensure maximum enjoyment is by being in the correct headspace for what i'm hearing
if it's too far removed in mood i may hold off until i'm ready, don't really want this to hit wrong as this will be my first experience with twigs
|
| |
uhhh try a 10pm just out of the shower lava lamp on do I want to dance? (do I want to answer that question? (do I want to chill?)) 6/10 thirsty mood
|
| |
realistically i will probably get to it once i'm off this hip-hop kick i've found myself on or probably in the middle of it

Striptease is the best. I hop on that train easy.
LP1 is still her most consistent output for me. 2nd'ing the she's more a track artist than an album artist to me. Her peak songs are *peak*. But the albums lose me pretty reliably.

the north west verse and being a bit too lenient on the 90s references is keeping me from bumping this a notch. still, super listenable, crisp and right up my lane
