“pika is such an obvious troll that it's kinda amazing some of you still engage with his wild takes”
I mean he loves baiting you simps I’m sure, but his ‘contrarian’ opinions don’t come across as disingenuous.
Disagreeing with groupthink makes you a troll now apparently

johnny's too busy telling people they're being manipulated if they like a band and that they need to "parse" though "sagaciously" big words to care about this album

I thought this was interesting. Something about Opeth prevents me from really getting into them but I thought they did a good job of keeping things from blending together. The last few minutes of the last song is probably my favorite thing on here.
I had no idea the guy from Jethro Tull was on this.

they definitely come across as disingenuous when he has so many ratings, no reviews and almost always just posts blank rules or blank sucks without further elaboration 30,000 times in a row

artificialbox, listen… they have so many better albums than this. At the very least listen to Blackwater Park, it’s worth your time.
And in response to “you only disliked one song, why only 3.5?” It’s not really just the one song. It’s that song, plus the fact that the album’s momentum completely deflates by the end of Paragraph 7. It’s hard to give an album a 4 when it has such a glaring pacing problem. I don’t feel any particular desire to listen to the album again right now, and it’s entirely because of that ending. It’s a big issue for me.

its decent. I like the return of the rah rah rah but I feel like old mates cleans are a bit overproduced these days.

It’s a pacing problem, IN MY OPINION lol. Of course it’s subjective. If you don’t mind it, I’m happy for you.

Fair enough, I guess you just disagree with their vision to end it on a softer cut

I just felt like it's all much the same heavy, soft, heavy, soft. I mean, I could never make music this good.

6 is the perfect setter for 7 and 8, so I wholeheartedly disagree with the pacing statement. For me, of course

It's a bit of both. I think his opinions are genuine for the most part but he's admitted to some of his ratings being troll ratings. Like a 1 for GR

I finished to read your review right now, and I like to read it. I'm waiting for my CD version of the album. So, I'm not check it on Spotify or other source. But, form what I know, I think the band are not return to their previous form, I mean, the death metal growls. I also think they will go use them as a complement of their work. The band hugged the prog style definetelly, which in my case, it's very good thing. I'll see it in the next days after I've my Cd special version. I hope to have another great album of what is, probably, the best prog band at the moment.
