i heard they're releasing a cappella versions of these songs. i hope they drop the instrumentals too so we can mix the vocals to our hearts content and put up fan remixes, i think i could do something with how buried Emily feels on the chorus of Casualty

I think the album’s mix is a huge part of why it feels so lacklustre.
If they had the Meteora/MTM mix quality this would sound much better.

the fact that this might actually be worse than one more light is the best legacy they ever could've left for chester

What I find interesting is how little people actually talk about this album, considering the massive cultural impact of Linkin Park actually making a comeback.
People are hyped about the band coming back, but this album really has no sticking power.

I think it is much better than most of their mid stuff. But it isn't a consistently strong album from front to back either and contains quite a bit of filler. I think they nailed with Emily, absolutely great choice for the band.

yeah longtime LP defender here and while i enjoyed this I never feel like returning past like, Emptiness Machine
|

the emptiness machine and heavy is the crown are two bona fide hits as far as 2025 rock music is concerned.
this was never gonna have any staying power tho and will largely be forgotten besides those two songs. this lineup has potential but not if there gonna nostalgia act themselves.

I think bringing back nostalgia to some extent is quite needed. I personally don't think they overdid it in that sense. It is more about the songwriting itself which is not as great throughout

"Idk despite this which thing being a throwback Two faced was the only one that felt like classic LP tbh"
Two Faced is probably the best thing on here, yeah.
It's not just the nostalgia - the vocals are solid on all fronts, the riffs are easily the best thing Brad's written in years, and the overall groove is really catchy. It's a shame that it ended up being an isolated spark of creativity amongst a crowd of non-starters.

nah this is still better than oml but that isn't saying much

Ngl I like OML a bit better than this. This just kinda feels like Linkin Park-lite

Ya literally just a neutered Hybrid Theory/Meteora

Bizarre as it might sound, at least One More Light felt like the band was taking a chance on a different genre and trying something new. Sure, it was pretty much guaranteed to backfire on them (and in a lot of ways, it did), but at least they actually took the chance.
From Zero takes no chances, it’s as safe as it can be.

The title track on One More Light has more heart and passion in it than literally every song here put together.
